Top Korean Fashion Brands Loved by K-Pop Idols

K-Pop idols may have a team of stylists to help them look good on stage, but when they’re not performing, they have to pick out their own clothes just like the rest of us. Other than well-known international brands such as Fila and Champion, K-Pop idols can often be seen supporting local Korean streetwear brands.

So if you want to look like a K-Pop star, it’s a good idea to check out K-Fashion brands that are loved by idols. Apart from being able to feel closer to your favourite idol, you might also be regarded as an expert in all things K-Fashion by your fellow fans.

Touted as a unisex brand, Mudidi has a diverse range of designs that are suitable for both men and women. It’s no surprise then that the brand is so popular with both male and female celebrities alike.

Apart from the typical oversized fit unisex apparel such as sweatshirts and sweatpants, Mudidi also features more feminine designs such as skirts and dresses, so you don’t have to be a fan of androgynous styling in order to rock Mudidi apparel!

With the brand’s iconic bubble serif font and the many pastel-coloured designs available, you would be forgiven for assuming that Ames is a brand that caters specifically to women. However, this is not the case, and the soft aesthetic of Ame’s designs appeal to many male K-Pop idols as well.

Even SHINee’s Minho, who’s known for his sporty and masculine image, has rocked an Ames hoodie as well.

BTS Jin has also rocked an Ames knitted vest, and it suits his image perfectly. This knitted vest seems to be especially popular with male idols, and Treasure’s Jihoon has worn the vest in yellow, while GHOST9’s Jinwoo has worn the sky blue version of the same vest.

Despite being a relatively new Korean streetwear brand, AAMBITION already has its fair share of celebrity fans. BTS Jin is among one of them, having been spotted wearing apparel from AAMBITION on more than one occasion. Compared to the softer aesthetic of Ames, AAMBITION’s aesthetic is more closely aligned to conventional streetwear styles—which Jin manages to pull off just as amazingly.

The paisley pattern is an iconic aspect of AAMBITION’s designs, and is featured on multiple types of clothing, from sweatpants to hoodies. AAMBITION also proves that cute designs have a place in streetwear, and their collection also features t-shirts with cute teddy bear prints, which has been in trend in Korea recently.

Engbrox is a Korean accessory brand, and their designs are inspired by British modern culture as well as the contemporary lifestyle of their youth. Their collection features a wide range of jewellery, including earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and rings. The minimalist and contemporary designs of their pieces are popular with K-Pop idols both on and off stage.

While jewellery is typically seen as something for women, and Engbrox’s delicate designs are often feminine, the brand is just as popular with male K-Pop idols as it is with female idols. GOT7’s BamBam and SHINee’s Taemin have both worn Engbrox accessories more than once.

The name of the brand is derived from ‘à la mode’, which means to be in the latest fashion, and LAMODECHIEF pursues trendy fashion designs with high quality and unique tailoring details. Despite being in the same band, the members of BTS have diverse personal styles—if Ames and AAMBITION are suited for Jin’s simple and clean aesthetic, then LAMODECHIEF’s trendy designs are perfect for maknae Jungkook’s youthful and trendy style.

Jungkook is a big fan of LAMODCHIEF, and has worn the brand’s t-shirts and sweatshirts in various designs. Many of their designs feature intricate details, or have unique designs on the back of the tops, which is great for those of us who prefer to dress in a more lowkey style.

Fans have long speculated that Blackpink’s Jennie is one of the co-founders of Korean streetwear brand NIEEH, and while Jennie has never confirmed nor denied these rumours, she is definitely very open about being a fan of the brand.

It’s no surprise that Jennie, who is a fan of classic vintage designs, would be drawn to the timeless designs of NIEEH, and her love for the brand seems to be contagious! Not only have fellow Blackpink members also been seen sporting NIEEH apparel, eagle-eyed fans have also noticed Jennie’s close friend Jessica (formerly a member of Girls’ Generation) and Jessica’s younger sister f(x)’s Krystal rocking NIEEH as well.

Teddy Island

Koreans can’t seem to get enough of teddy bears, and there are many brands that feature teddy bears in their designs. However, few other brands are as dedicated to the teddy bear aesthetic as Teddy Island is, where all of the designs in their collection—ranging from apparel to accessories—feature at least one adorable and cuddly teddy bear.

Despite using teddy bears in all of their designs, Teddy Island manages to keep their designs unique and inventive by having various different teddy bear characters. From teddy bears in Hawaiian shirts, to movie character inspired teddy bears, there’s a teddy bear shirt to fit any occasion.

Louie Ooie

Louie Ooie is a brand that is both classic and contemporary. The designs of their handbags are simple and timeless, and the minimalist aesthetic of Louie Ooie bags are definitely loved by Korean celebrities such as actresses Kim Bo-Ra and Han Bo-Reum.

If the shape and overall design of the bags are classic, then the pastel colours that the bags come in are definitely the contemporary aspect of the brand, as pastel colours are very much in line with the latest trends. Not only is the pastel aesthetic popular on its own, pastel clothes and accessories are an integral aspect of the high teen aesthetic popularised by Blackpink’s Jennie.

CPGN Studio

While it is not uncommon for Korean streetwear brands to be unisex, CPGN Studio goes above and beyond, and their designs are not only suitable for both men and women, but can also be worn by people of any age. CPGN Studio is also dedicated to designs that transcend trends.

It is undeniable that Korean fashion is heavily trend-based, but fans of CPGN Studio designs can rest assured that they will remain stylish despite the rapidly changing fashion landscape. BTS V, whose personal style is artsy and refined, fits well with the brand. The oversized CPGN Studio sweatshirt that he’s been spotted wearing has a joker clown artfully embroidered onto the front, and looks very aesthetic indeed.

AQO Studiospace

Despite not having the word ‘bear’ anywhere in the brand name, teddy bears are also a recurring motif with AQO Studiospace designs. However, despite both featuring teddy bears, AQO Studiospace has a distinctly different aesthetic from Teddy Island. Featuring knitwear and pastel-coloured t-shirts, AQO Studiospace’s visual aesthetic leans more towards soft than just cute.

The bears featured on their designs are often just an outline that almost kind of resemble gummy bears, making their apparel suitable for everyone, including people who might not be such big fans of teddy bears. Their plain oversized t-shirt featuring a small logo is especially popular, having been worn by multiple celebrities, such as TWICE Jeongyeon, IU, Kim Woo-Seok, CLC Yoojin, and WJSN Seola.

Korean fashion continues to grow in popularity internationally, and quite a lot of this growth can be attributed to K-Pop idols! While most of us may not be able to sing and dance at the same level as most K-Pop idols, we can definitely look to them for style inspiration. If you’re a K-Fashion enthusiast, keeping an eye on what celebrities wear is a great way to discover new brands.

The emergence of new Korean fashion brands means increased diversity in Korean fashion and its trends, and you will always be able to find a brand which designs suit your style.
